Integrating Gamification and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Enhance Children’s Learning

Abstract

The changing demands of education in the past years due to the advent of technology have necessitated the use of innovative and creative strategies in the teaching and learning process. Artificial Intelligence (AI), on one hand, has the potential to revolutionize teaching and learning, making it more personalized, engaging, and efficient. The potential benefits of using AI in education include personalized learning, which can lead to better learning outcomes, as children can learn on their own pace and in a way that suits their learning style. Gamification, on the other hand, which is the use of game-based techniques in learning, has proven to be an effective tool for enhancing children’s learning experiences by improving motivation, attention span, and knowledge retention. This article therefore examines the potentials, strategies and challenges of integrating gamification and AI to enhance children’s learning. It suggests that leveraging the strengths of both gamification and AI can lead to improved learning outcomes in children’s education. Recommendations were made including the need for training and retraining of teachers on the use of AI-assisted gamification during classroom teaching.
