Abstract
This study examined the attitude and the performance of science and language students’ in General English courses in Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo. Survey research design was adopted for the study. A self-designed questionnaire titled “Attitude and performance of science and language students in General English” (r= 0.72) and students’ scores in each of the four general courses were used as instruments to gather data for the study. Two hundred part three students were randomly selected from the groups totaling four hundred. Two hypotheses were tested using t-test. The findings revealed that science students perform better in General English courses than their counterparts. It was then recommended that students from School of Languages should change their ambivalent attitude to General English courses and exhibit more seriousness in General English classes.
