Abstract
This study assessed Islamic studies teachers’ perception on the use of electronic machines for elections in Kwara state, adopting gender and voting centres as moderator variables. It adopted descriptive survey research design to assess Islamic Studies teachers’ perception on the use of electronic machines for elections in Kwara State. The population for this study was all Islamic Studies teachers in Kwara State. Multi stage sampling comprising stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used in the study. The instrument used in the study was an adapted questionnaire titled “Secondary School Islamic Studies Teachers’ Perceptions on the Use of Electronic Machines for Election.” The instrument was validated and the reliability index of 0.87 was discovered. Percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test were used for data analysis. The study revealed, among others, that Islamic Studies teachers have moderate perceptions on the use of electronic machines for election; and that there was no significant difference between male and female Islamic Studies teachers’ perceptions on the use of electronic machines for election in Kwara State. The study recommended that Islamic Studies teachers in Kwara State should be encouraged to take the conduct of election in the state as an important civic responsibility.
