Brief profile of Professor Elsie Umeano, MNAE; FNCEP

A Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Elsie Chizua Umeano is a Member of the Nigerian Academy of Education (MNAE) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Council of Educational Psychologists (FNCEP). A former Director of the Curriculum Development and Instructional Materials Centre (CUDIMAC), UNN; a former Associate Dean of Students, UNN, she is currently the Head of Department of Educational Foundations, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; and the Chairman, Board of Governors, University of Nigeria Secondary School, Nsukka. A teacher of teachers, she does her job of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels with remarkable passion. She has supervised and graduated twenty three MEd and fifteen PhD students.

She has been to many institutions outside Nigeria – Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee; Vanderbilt University, Madison Campus; and California University, Dominguez Hills, Carson – all in the US – for workshops and dialogues on best practices in research as well as in the production of e-instructional materials. She was actually the first Director of Curriculum Development and Instructional Materials Centre (CUDIMAC), UNN to go into development and production of e-instructional materials. A teacher, mother, mentor, counsellor and adviser, she is amiable and very pleasant without fripperies.
