Brief Profile of Professor Patrick E. Eya

Professor Patrick Eke Eya (mnae), a Professor of Curriculum Studies/Educational Technology, is currently the Director of the Regional Training and Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning (RETRIDOL) at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Prior to taking up this position, he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the National Open University of Nigeria. He has a PhD (1992) in Curriculum Studies from the University of Calabar, a Master of Education (M.Ed. – 1982) in Educational Technology and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. – 1979) in Botany/Geography, both from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. On completion of his education, Professor Eya has served in various capacities at different organisations across the country – Secondary Schools, School of Basic Studies, College of Education and Universities. Professor Eya has published more than 80 articles (including books and chapters in books) in the domains of education, educational technology, curriculum studies and open and distance learning. He also serves as an external examiner to 15 Nigerian Universities and 2 Foreign Universities. As an advocate for the advancement of research, Professor Eya has served in various editorship positions in numerous journals. These include: Editor – Journal of Institute of Education (ESUT), Editor-In-Chief – Nigerian Journal of Research and Production (NIJOREP), Editorial Consultant – African Journal of Information Technology (AJIT); Business Editor, ESUT Journal of Education (ESUJE); Consulting Editor, Journal of the National Association for the Advancement of Knowledge (NAFAK); Editor – Journal of Creativity in Teaching for the Acquisition and Dissemination of Effective Learning. He is currently the Managing Editor of West African Journal for Open and Flexible Learning (WAJOFEL).
