Profile of Prof Ike Chunuwe Sarduana Ifelunni
Ike Chunuwe Sarduana Ifelunni is a Professor of Counselling Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka since 2003. He was the Head of the Department of Educational Foundations (2010-2012), Dean of the Faculty of Education (2012-2014), Founding Director, Quality Assurance (2015-2016) and currently (2019-Date), Director, University Advancement Center, all in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He had parallel appointment with the Institute of Education of the same University where he functioned as the Coordinator of Training, Workshop and Research (2005-2018). He obtained his professional training from the Federal College of Education, Technical, Akoka in Business Education in 1983 where he was also the Students’ Union Public Relations Officer (1981/82 session). His further professional training was in the University of Nigeria where he received a Bachelor of Education degree in 1988 with a first class honours and emerging as the best graduating student in the Faculty; Master of Education in 1989 and a PhD in 1993. His research interest spans a wide range of Education, Social and Environmental Policy Issues, Adolescence Sexuality, Family Counselling, Stress, gender inequality, poverty and the Environment, Environment and conflicts resolution, health and rights of women and the child. He has published over 80 research papers in scholarly journals and has presented over 40 papers in scientific conferences. He has graduated over 21 doctoral students in guidance and counselling as well as over 40 masters’ degree students in the same area. Professor Ifelunni is a member of many professional and learned societies, among which are: member, Nigerian Academy of Education; member and national secretary, Nigerian Council of Educational Psychologists and Fellow, Counselling Association of Nigeria.
