Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between sustainable community development process and sustainability of inhabitants in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State, Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for this study. The population of the study consists of two thousand, four hundred and two (2,402) community leaders (men, women and youth) in the study area. Purposive sampling technique was used for the selection of two hundred and forty (240) men, women and youth leaders. Sustainable Community Development Process and Sustainability of Inhabitants Questionnaire (SCDPSIQ) was the instruments used for data collection. Pearson Product moment correlation coefficient analysis was the statistical technique used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The result of the analysis revealed a significant relationship between community leadership, social justice/equality and sustainability of inhabitants in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State, Nigeria. Based on the result, it was recommended, among others, that community members should appoint reliable individuals to manage the affairs of the community, and that community leaders should collaborate with government agencies to facilitate community development process.
