Adequacy of Physical Facilities And Students’ Academic Performance among Undergraduate Students in Environmental Education, University of Calabar – Nigeria

Abstract

The paper examined the adequacy of physical facilities and students’ academic performance in Environmental Education in the University of Calabar, Calabar-Nigeria. The study adopted the ex-post facto research design. The population of the study consisted of all the undergraduate students (600 students) in Environmental Education, University of Calabar, out of which a sample size of 119 Environmental Education students was selected. A structured questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection.  The result revealed a low status of physical facilities. The result also showed that the adequacy of physical facilities influences students’ academic performance. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that the government should make sure that the physical facilities on ground in the university campus are adequate so that students can study on a conducive environment, and this will have positive influence on their academic performance.
